my g/f and I are thinking about moving from Indiana to North Carolina?

we would like a small town thats close to a big town with good jobs and nightlife. something were you could raise a family and not need to worry about crime. whats the weather like during the winter months of NC i would hope its beter then Indiana weather is. ive heard allot of good things about the town of Raleigh could someone give me some good info on that town and maybe some other close by towns thanks for the help

I LOVE the weather in NC! I do wish we got a little more snow (at least one good snowfall a year) though. The Summer can take some getting used to if you aren’t used to humidity (I am from the west coast, so the first year was difficult). Spring and Fall are AWESOME!

Raleigh is a great place! It is a city, rather than a town, but generally has a small town feel for a city. However, there are plenty of smaller towns within a short commute to downtown Raleigh. I live in South Raleigh (outside city limits, if you look at a map I am closer to Willow Springs). I love it down here! I leave my doors unlocked most of the time. I like that I have farm land completely surrounding my home. But, I also like to be close to restaurants, museums, theaters, shopping, etc. I am only about 15 minutes to downtown Raleigh, about 8 minutes from Fuquay-Varina and only a few minutes from Garner. There are many areas that are similar to this in the area.

No matter what you decide I would recommend a trip to check it out first. I also recommend that if you do decide to move that you rent first to decide which area you want to live in. My sister-in-law wanted to buy a house before moving here. We talked her into renting for at least 3-6 months first. She did and ended up choosing her home in a completely different area than she initially was thinking.
